Sweet Pops by Lu was born from a passion that began in my childhood, in my grandparents’ kitchen. Surrounded by homemade cakes, breads, and traditional sweets, I learned early on that baking is much more than recipes — it is love, memories, and connection. From a young age, I was captivated by desserts, spending hours watching cooking shows and recreating recipes from magazines and television.
As the years passed, this passion grew alongside me. Through dedication and continuous learning, I refined my skills, always inspired by the rich flavors of Brazilian baking. One dessert that truly represents this emotional connection is the classic Brazilian coconut cake (Toalha Felpuda) — incredibly moist, comforting, and full of tradition. It was my grandmother’s favorite and remains a symbol of the love that guides my work.
In 2001, I immigrated to the United States, and for a time, baking took a back seat. In 2015, while planning my youngest son’s first birthday, I decided to create the cakes and desserts myself. What began as a personal challenge quickly reignited my passion and opened the door to something greater. Orders followed, encouragement grew, and that is how Sweet Pops by Lu came to life.
Today, Sweet Pops by Lu reflects my journey — handcrafted desserts made with care, intention, and heart. By blending Brazilian baking traditions with creativity and personalized designs, my goal is to create desserts that awaken cherished memories and bring people back to the warmth of homemade flavors and meaningful celebrations.
